Welcome to my blog and a big thank you for swinging by my little corner of the World Wide Web.
I’ve always wanted to travel the world and in 2008 I made my first trip abroad. I came to England to spend two years traveling through Europe, you know, to satisfy this hunger I had for travel. I saw many beautiful places and I truly loved every second of it. When an opportunity came knocking I couldn’t help but to grab the bull by the horns and now, years later, I have made England my home.
Now, I am just a regular woman living a near enough ordinary life. By day a Maths Teacher, by night an amateur home cook and wife to my lovely Hubby. And by weekend? A hungry foodie seeking a new adventure! I still suffer from travel-bite fever even after all these years…
I cannot wait to share with you my passions for food, travel and life in general. Here you will find some of my favourite recipes from all over the world and also my take on some of the places I have visited locally and abroad. I love painting my nails with some wacky designs and writing short sketches about life in general.
In short, what you have here is my very ordinary life, slathered with clotted cream to give it a bit of a twist.
If you’ve enjoyed your visit, why not sign up by clicking the Follow Me button at the bottom of the page? This will inform you whenever I publish a new post or a yummy new recipe.

It is always nice to try something new, however, we shouldn’t forget the classics either! Keep an eye on my website for some great (or very disastrous) experiments in the kitchen by following the dropdown menu next to the Recipe tab at the top….
In 2008 I arrived on the English shore in a bid to see the world. Needless to say that my intention to travel the world only lasted a year before I met my husband. Ever since then we aim to go abroad at least…
I have been painting my nails for the longest time, however, I have recently fell in love with stamping. Sometimes I will just sit and mess around with polish for hours… I would love to share some of my creations with you. I know…
On Saturday evenings after the rugby my dad will put a whole rack of lamb ribs into the oven and we would have that with pap. Nowadays I like to keep things a little more healthy and cook French-trimmed lamb ribs with a bit of potatoes and an awesome pistachio pesto.
I love receiving edible gifts, especially those that are unusual. My friend B gave me a pack of Einkorn Flour a couple of months ago. I’ve been totally intrigued by it and couldn’t wait to try it out.
So I have a few things in the fridge that is nearing their expiration date. And, as the quote above suggests, I really hate waste. I had to come up with a way to use up the ingredients before they really do expire and so the Beetroot and Goat’s Cheese Quiche is born.
When I first heard that I will be visiting Lake Garda I had no idea what to expect. Now that I’ve visited, I cannot think of many other places that has the charm of this part of Italy.
Debra Levinson was spot on when she said: “One of the great joys of traveling through Italy is discovering firsthand that it is, indeed, a dream destination.” Italy is the dream destination for the majority of us. Ever since I could remember, Italy had…
When I grew up, the family would gather on a Sunday for lunch. Everyone will be responsible for bringing one salad and one meat dish so it almost always resulted in someone bringing some form of jelly salad. My most favourite one is the Avocado Jelly Salad.
Have I mentioned that I am pretty privileged when it comes to seeing the world and visiting new places? As you may or may not know, I am a teacher and as part of my school’s culture we take our students on an annual…
I can still remember the first time I had Moroccan food. I was in South Kensington with my cousin. I cannot remember what I had that night, but I do remember coming home and thinking: ‘wow! that was bloody fantastic!’
If there is one thing in life that I truly love, then it is the art of good food. The Hubby and I spent a day and a half in Vienna on a short little weekend break and consumed way more calories than what was needed to sustain life…
It has been weeks’ worth of planning. All I wanted was the most romantic weekend away in one of the most romanticised cities in the world. It is therefore only logical that it is pouring outside. How truly disappointing!
I’ve always been a romantic at heart. Besides Paris, I’ve always imagined 18th Century Vienna as one of the most romantic cities on earth. To say that our visit was a slight disappointment is somewhat of an understatement…
I absolutely love serving salads as part of our dinner in the evening, however, I do like to keep things interesting as I would hate for it to become just another side-dish that have to be consumed just because it is healthy.
When all things spoke the potato said, ‘set me warm, dig me warm, eat me warm, that’s all i want.’ I couldn’t agree more with this age-old Irish proverb! Who doesn’t love a great dish that comes from the most humblest of origins: the potato.
I love the fact that there are very few coffee chains in South Africa. People make a living by trying to be more unique that the next person down the road. The result? Gems!
With summer time I’m always on the prowl for something that is light, but tasty at the same time. With an abundance of mint in our garden it is inevitable that I have to incorporate it into my cooking.
Growing up my mother always woke up super early. Even on a Saturday. Some Saturdays we were lucky enough to be spoilt with these little sweetcorn fritters for breakfast. Mieliekoekies!
I used to waste. A lot. Whenever an expiry or best before date was approaching, it went straight to the bin. Here are my 10 top tips to reduce food waste each week.
